                Procedure of the lesson
Introduction.
1 Greeting.
Good morning children! Glad to meet you. How are you today?
P
: We`re fine. And you?
T
: I`m very well.
2.Aim
T: The subject of our lesson is “From Rags to Riches”
T: So students, today we are going to talk about a famous person’s life, about how her lifestyle has changed since her childhood. Through this context you will learn how to use the structure “used to” when talking about past habits. Besides, you’ve got an excellent opportunity to practice your listening, reading and speaking skills at the lesson and now pay  attention to the subject of our lesson. “From Rags to Riches” means becoming very rich after starting your life very poor. Think of the equivalent in our language please.
Let’s read the motto of our lesson.
Life is like a roller-coaster. It has its ups
and downs. But it’s your choice to scream
or enjoy the ride.
T:  What do you think of it? Do you agree with it?
P1: I agree with this quote. A person’s life changes. It can never be all the same.
P2: If you are poor now, it doesn’t mean you’ll never be rich.
P3: How do you say “залежати від” in English? Everything depends on a person. If you want to be happy you should do your best to be what you want to be.
T: Well done. At the  previous lesson we practiced  the Past Simple form of irregular verbs. And now I suggest you play the game  “ Kill the Fly”. You can see verbs. You should use their Past Simple forms and kill flies by making up sentences with them. Let’s start. The winner is the group that has killed the most flies.
                               II Main Part
1. Presentation of Projects. (checking homework)
T: Dear friends, as Mary Putney once said:
“What one loves in childhood stays in the heart forever”. Your hometask was to prepare for the presentation of your projects that you’ve made in pairs on the subject “Childhood Memories”. Now I’m ready to listen to you. The rest of the pupils should listen and ask questions.
2. Grammar
T: When we talk about past habits that don’t happen any more we use the structure “used to”.
I used to wear glasses when I was young.
I didn’t use to eat vegetables.
Did you use to eat many sweets when you were young?
(Коли ми говоримо про звичні дії або стан в минулому часі, чого немає в теперішньому, ми вживаємо  структуру “used to”. Український еквівалент цієї структури- бувало)
d) T: And now listen and repeat some sentences after me
I used to have a pet fish when I was younger
He used to go to bed early when he was younger
    I didn’t use to have a car
She didn’t use to ride a bicycle
Did you use to drive a car when you were young
Did they use to speak English when they were
    younger?
b) Well done, pupils. Let’s move over to talking about Sam’s life? Sam had an exciting lifestyle when he was 30 years old. Unfortunately, things have changed. Use the prompts and make sentences
about Sam’s life then and now as in the example:

Ex 9 p. 10
          Then
¨     wear designer clothes
¨      drive a sports car
¨     wear old clothes
¨      ride a bicycle
¨      be divorced
¨      live in a small terraced house
¨      cook his own food
¨      not have many friends
¨      wake up very early
¨                   Now
¨      he wears old clothes
¨      be married to a model
¨      live in a large house
¨      eat at expensive restaurants
¨      have a lot of friends
¨      wake up very late
e.g.Sam used to wear designer clothes when he was younger. Now he wears old clothes.
T. I guess you’ll find it interesting to talk to your partners about their past and present habits. You’ve got cards. Use the prompts and ask questions about your partner’s life now and then. Look at the example:
What games did you use to play? What games do you usually play now?
T: And now Julia report back to the class what you have found out about your partner’s life.
3. Relaxation: T: Now, my dear friends, I suggest you listen to wonderful music and think about the happiest moments in your childhood. Relax for a while. I hope you’ve enjoyed it so much.
